Unfortunately, tapping the ESC key when booting up Win 10, no longer bypasses the error codes and opens the desktop. I trusted that something recommended by the Microsoft Club would never cause a problem, that I didn't bother to write down where I saved the restore point on the C: Drive. One other thing that I forgot to tell Paul, when the blank screen started, I was able to access the desktop only once by tapping the ESC key while the computer was rebooting, but I wasn't unable to open File Explorer to find out where I saved the restore point when it asked me to do so. That is how I wound up where I am today, by running FixWin to solve the OneDrive issue, which created this mess. Even if I can access the WRE, I'm not sure I can find the latest restore point that I created before running FixWin that was recommended by The Microsoft Club to repair OneDrive. I also gave him more information about the system failure to see if it triggers any additional ideas. Let me know if this new information triggers anything else.Īs you can see from my reply to Paul, it tried that very thing with no success. Exception handlers will not be invoked and the process will be terminated immediately. Taskhost error is sometimes followed by a Fail Fast exception occurred.

The main two main errors are taskhost.exe and dllhost.exe with the words system error to the right of them, plus Exception Processing - Message Oxc0000005 - unexpected parameters after each one. So it's acting like a fully booted computer, but with error codes and no desktop.
What's strange is the fact that CTRL, ALT, DEL still changes the black screen to blue with the four options in the middle (Lock, Switch User, Sign Out, Task Manager) and shut down buttons in the bottom right hand corner. Do you recommend doing the start up sooner than that? Believe me, I was so disappointed the Recovery screen never appeared for I have run out of options. The steps I found on Microsoft's website also said to shut off and wait 10 seconds before restarting, so perhaps that's too long.

Actually, I found information about accessing Windows Recovery Environment last night and tried the three time shut down and restart process several times, but Windows 10 never booted into the diagnostic mode.
